DID NOT See That Coming

We find it necessary to post pictures of things that have happened in the late past. Why? Because we haven't taken any pictures recently, except of Elisha, more on that later.  In February of 2012 the Valkenaar family was going about their business.  Josiah was doing homework, Mama was cleaning up dinner, I, Michaella, was playing recorder, and Daddy was taking Hannah to dance class, when, Boom! We all ran to the door to see what had happened.

Yes, a fire truck came hurtling down the driveway and smashed into a tree in our front yard.  The man jumped out and said "No brakes"
here is the damage.  On the car, not the tree. Yes, trees tend to be hard, immoveable objects, you don't normally smash your expensive fire trucks into them.
Yeees, i think you will need a new bumper, and some other things.
checking for damage underneath.
You will not get to pose with a fire truck in your front yard again.  The driver's wife had picked him up, and we were still waiting for the chief to come and get the truck.
The problem was with the brake fluid, i believe, maybe not.
poor little tree, you've  got a boo boo, and that mean ol' truck is out of service, permanently.
It now resides in the chief's front yard, better than ours.  and the guy who crashed it, well, he is no longer allowed to even be in fire trucks.  There are still pieces of truck in our yard.  End of story.
